Tom won the 2010 MAC Award!!!
It was a thrilling night at B.B. King’s Blues Club in Times Square when Tom picked up the 2010 MAC Award for New York Debut – Male.
Presented by the Board of Directors of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC), the MAC Awards are presented annually to honor achievements in Cabaret, Comedy, and Jazz. The Awards encompass more that two dozen categories such as: vocalists and vocal groups, piano bar and jazz performers, comedy and musical performers, writers of songs and special material, directors, musical directors, recordings, and more. In addition, through special awards, MAC salutes outstanding contributions to the field of live entertainment.
With 500 in attendance, including cabaret legends like Julie Wilson and Marilyn Maye…as well as Leslie Uggams, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement MAC Award by Brian Stokes Mitchell…it was a gilttering crowd. Presenters and performers included Mario Cantone, Karen Mason, The Les Paul Trio, Baby Jane Dexter, Tony DeSare, KT Sullivan and many more.
Towards the very end of the evening, Lucie Arnaz and Billy Stritch took the stage to present the MAC Award in the New York Debut category. One torn envelope later, Tom found himself holding the MAC Award and gratefully acknowledging all of the people that helped make his show the success that it was.
Dreams do come true…
